This happened to me when I was in high school. I had just started my junior year (grade 11) at a pretty big high school (about 3500 students). It was the first week of school and I was super excited to start with a clean slate and new classes.

I had always been pretty active in extra curriculars, so this year I was doing a lot of stuff (basketball, soccer, debate team, and music) and had a pretty busy schedule. The first week of school we had open scheduling, where we could sign up for any time slot and go to any classroom and talk to any teacher, without it affecting our schedules.

I had a teacher, let's call him Mr. Johnson, who was my favorite teacher in a particular subject (I’ll avoid giving away what subject because I still have students in that class and don’t want to draw attention). He was always super enthusiastic about his subject and genuinely cared about his students. I had him for the past two years and loved his class.

The first day of open scheduling, I went to see Mr. Johnson at 8:00 a.m. (not unusual). At 11:00, I went to see him again. He was in his room with another teacher, but I was there to sign up for a time slot so I waited outside his door. At 11:30, I went back to see him again. I remember all this because I was excited to talk to him about the upcoming semester.

At 12:30, I went back to see him again. This time, I walked in on him and another teacher. Mr. Johnson was sitting at his desk, and the other teacher was standing in front of his desk, talking. I said "hi" and they looked at me, then back at each other. They both seemed really startled.

I had no idea what was going on, but something about their behavior made me really uncomfortable. I quickly apologized and said I’d come back another time, and left. I thought maybe I’d just walked in on a weird conversation or something.

The next day, I was at lunch when a friend of mine approached me and asked "hey, what were you doing in Mr. Johnson’s room yesterday?" I asked her what she meant, and she said she saw me go in at 11:30 and 12:30, and that she was in his class with another teacher at 11:00 and 11:30.

I was confused and said "oh, I was just signing up for a time slot. I saw him at 8:00 and wanted to see him again." She looked at me strangely and said "you’re a really persistent kid, huh?" I laughed and said yeah, it was no big deal.

Then she said "no, no, it’s fine. I just haven’t seen you there before." I told her it was okay and that I really just liked his class.

But that night, I started having these really weird dreams. I kept waking up in the middle of the night thinking someone was watching me. It was so strange, and I couldn’t shake the feeling. I went to bed early, hoping it would pass.

The next day, I had another teacher for Mr. Johnson’s class, which I found weird. I decided to confront him after class and asked him what was going on. He looked really confused and asked what I meant, and I said I saw him in his room with another teacher and then saw you the next day.

He said "oh, I don’t know what happened. I was just sick yesterday and couldn’t come to school. I’m so sorry!" I apologized and said no problem, and left.

I didn’t think much of it until the third day, when I was walking down the hallway and saw him in a meeting room with another teacher. They were both just standing in the room, not talking to each other. I had no idea what to make of it, but it freaked me out.

The rest of the week was pretty normal. I didn’t see either teacher in a meeting or in their room, so I assumed it was just a weird mistake.

The next Monday, I was sitting in class when the fire alarm went off and we all had to evacuate the building. We all went outside, but I saw Mr. Johnson and the other teacher I had seen standing in the parking lot, talking. I went over to them and asked what was going on, and Mr. Johnson said "oh, sorry! I just don’t feel good and was trying to figure out what’s going on."

The other teacher nodded and said "yeah, I was worried about him and came to check up." I said "oh, sorry to hear! Maybe you should go home together?" Mr. Johnson smiled and said "yeah, that’s a good idea. Sorry for the trouble."

I said "no problem!" and left them to their conversation. But again, I felt weird about the whole thing.

I didn’t see either of them for a couple of days. The rest of the week was normal, and I thought maybe I was just imagining things. But I still had that weird feeling.

The next Monday, I was in the parking lot getting ready to leave school and saw Mr. Johnson and the other teacher standing by his car. I waved at them, and they waved back. But again, they looked really serious and started talking when I came over.

I said "what’s going on?" and Mr. Johnson said "I don’t know what to say. Something weird has been going on for the past few days." The other teacher asked if I knew what he was talking about, and I said "no, I don’t. What do you mean?"

Then they both started laughing. Mr. Johnson said "we were talking to each other yesterday and today, and I forgot to tell you what we figured out."

I asked them what they figured out, and they both looked at each other. The other teacher said "you haven’t been coming to class lately. You’ve been signing up for time slots, but we haven’t seen you in class."

I laughed and said "oh, I’ve been sick! I’ve just been taking time slots and not going to class." They both looked at each other again, and the other teacher asked "you’re not in school sick for a whole week? You’ve been taking time slots and not coming to class?"

I laughed and said "yeah! I’ve just been feeling really sick and don’t feel like going to class."

Then they both started laughing again, even harder. I laughed too and said "what’s so funny?" Mr. Johnson said "we were wondering how someone was signing you up for time slots all day."

I laughed and said "oh, I guess it’s because I’m a persistent kid!" They both laughed harder and said "no, it’s because someone has been signing you up for time slots all day!"

I was so confused and asked them what they meant, but they were laughing so hard they couldn’t talk. I asked again and they said "you’ve been in school all day, every day, since the first day of school. Someone has been signing you up for time slots in your place!"

I was so confused and asked them if they were kidding me, but they weren’t. I laughed and said "wow, that’s really funny! I guess I’ve been in school all day, every day."

They both laughed harder and said "no, we’re serious! We have no idea who’s been doing it, but you’ve been in school all day, every day, since the first day of school."

I was so confused, but then I laughed even harder. I said "oh, I guess I’ve just been in school all day, every day." And they both laughed even harder.

I laughed and laughed, but then I started to get really scared. I asked them what they were talking about and what they had been doing, but they just laughed.

I asked them again and they said "no, we’re serious! We have no idea who’s been doing it, but you’ve been in school all day, every day, since the first day of school." They laughed again, but I got more and more scared.

I finally said "okay, whatever. Let’s go inside" and I walked back to the school. They didn’t laugh anymore and just looked at me confused. I walked inside and went to the main office, where I found the vice principal.

I told her what they said, and she looked at me with a confused expression. She asked me what I meant and I told her again. She looked at me with a serious expression and said "I don’t know what’s going on, but I think someone has been signing you up for time slots in your place."

I asked her what she meant, and she said "I don’t know. I’m going to check into it, but I don’t think you’ve been in school all day, every day."

I asked her if I was in trouble or something, and she said "I don’t know. I’m going to check into it." I asked her what she meant and she said "I’ll talk to the other teacher and find out what’s going on."

I asked her if she knew what was going on, and she said "I don’t know.
