My dad and his gun...

My dad is a bit of a loner. I wouldn't say he is antisocial or anything like that, he's just a very quiet person, he keeps to himself a lot. This is just his personality.<br><br>When my dad is out, he is a very nervous person. He always keeps an eye out, and he's very suspicious. This is just his personality.<br><br>I live with my dad, so one day I was driving him to get his car registered.<br><br>On the way there, I asked my dad if he could help me find a job. I'm currently in school, and I really need the money to support myself. I figured if anyone could help me find a job, it's my dad, he knows everyone in the town we live in.<br><br>We turn a corner, and there is a guy standing there, smoking a cigarette. My dad immediately starts looking at the ground, and glances at the guy. I asked my dad if that guy was okay.<br><br>My dad tells me "No, he's not." and pulls out a handgun. I ask why.<br><br>That's when he tells me that guy was in trouble with the law, and has been doing drugs. He had gotten in trouble with some people, and they had threatened to hurt him. He had a history of violence.<br><br>My dad tells me "I'm protecting myself." And that's all he said.<br><br>We register his car, and we head back to our apartment. When we get home, he tells me that he was protecting himself. That he had heard from a friend that that guy was planning something, and he wanted to protect himself.<br><br>I was really confused, and I didn't know what to say. I was a bit scared that my dad was going to kill someone.<br><br>I don't know if I should be scared of my dad, or if I should feel safe that he is protecting us.<br><br>I'm not sure what to do.<br><br>**
