AITA for telling her my business after she kept asking if I wanted to be in the "Inner Circle"?

I have a friend (Jane) who's part of a group with some other friends (Alex, Sam, Mike, and others). I used to be friends with all these people and when I was studying in another city, we'd meet up all the time. After I moved back home, I didn't really keep in touch and I didn't know they were a group.

One day, I was out and Jane asked me if I wanted to get dinner and she explained she's part of this group where they all meet up. She asked if I wanted to be part of it too, and I said no.

I saw them a couple days later and she asked again, "What's up? You don't want to be in the inner circle?" And I said "Why shouldn't I be? I don't see what's stopping you from including me."

She said I was being weird and that if I didn't want to be part of it I could have just said so and not kept asking. I said I wasn't going to beg to be part of a group but they would have to make me an offer I couldn't refuse and she kept asking and I never answered.

Then last night, I was at the pub and they were all there. Jane came over and asked again. She asked if I wanted to be included and said she was tired of being rejected. She said "If you wanted to be part of the inner circle, I would think you'd at least tell me why not" and I said "Why would you think that? I never said I wanted to be, so why do I owe you an explanation?"

Then she got mad and said "Whatever, I'm not including you no matter what and I don't like being asked if I'm going to include you" and then she walked away.

I said "I'm sorry I asked you about it earlier, I don't owe you anything. I'm just trying to get an answer." Then she said "I told you already, I'm not going to be including you no matter what." Then she walked away again and they all gave me weird looks.

I said "I don't need an explanation, you don't owe me anything."

I feel like I was in the right but I've never been in a situation where I said something and then asked why I was wrong. I'm just curious because they all gave me weird looks.
