This happened when I was about 7 years old and I'm still terrified.

One day, it was a Saturday morning, and I was waiting for my mother to wake up because we usually go to the grocery store together. She usually leaves at about 7:00 AM, and today she still wasn't up.

So I decided to get ready, I dressed myself, and then I went to get the money out of the jar on the top of the refrigerator. There was a note that my late husband gave me with instructions on how much money to put aside for this, and I followed them exactly. I took the money, put it in the purse, and left.

I walked down the street with a purse full of money with nobody with me, not even a neighbor to keep me company. I'm just 7 years old and didn't know the world at all.

After walking about two blocks, a woman approached me and asked me what I had in my hand. I was too shy to explain that it was a purse with the money to buy food and that I was going to the grocery store. I just nodded, and she started to walk behind me.

I wasn't sure why she was doing this, but I didn't mind, I thought it was nice to have someone with me, so I didn't worry.

After about three blocks, I started to feel a little uncomfortable because she was walking so close to me and didn't say anything. When I got to the grocery store, I decided to buy some food, and I asked her if she wanted to buy something too.

She told me she was with me and didn't want to buy anything. I thought it was weird, but I didn't ask anymore. I went through the aisles with her behind me, and when we got to the cash register, I started to get really scared, because the cashier started to look at her suspiciously, and she seemed really upset by it. So she took the purse out of the cashier's hands, took the money out of the purse, and threw it all on the ground. I was so scared that I started crying, and I ran out of the store, not even knowing what she did with my money. I just ran to my home, crying, and didn't say anything to my mother.

From that day on, I always went to the grocery store with my mother, even though she was still awake at 7:00 AM, and I never walked alone.
