OpenAI is prepping a massive new Gemini model to be released this summer. The Gemini model will have a 400 trillion parameter count, which is 70 times bigger than GPT-4.

CEO Sam Altman was speaking at the F8 2024 conference and made the grand announcement about the new model. He also made it very clear that these substantial improvements are going to happen until we reach a point where AGI takes over.

Altman said, "We'll have Gemini coming out this summer. Gemini is 400 Trillion Parameters. So, that's about 70 times bigger than GPT-4. That's a very different and much more capable model than GPT-4."

Gemini is built by running thousands of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) all at once. Altman also said that the future versions of the Gemini model will grow at a rate that follows Moore's Law. With Moore's Law, computational power doubles roughly every two years, which means the new Gemini models will more than double in power every two years.

The previous GPT-4 model took only 18 months to develop, so it can be assumed that these substantial improvements are going to happen until we reach a point where AGI takes over.

Altman said, "So, we think we'll be doubling roughly every two years. We think we have at least five years of doubling ahead of us, with the Gemini model."

He also said, "We are also working on a model that's at least three times bigger than GPT-4, and that's called Atlas. So, the Atlas model is just much more capable and more general than GPT-4. And then we have the Gemini model, which is 70 times bigger than GPT-4."

I can't wait to get my hands on the new Gemini model and see all of the amazing things that it can do. With the power of the new Gemini model, we will see it being used in a wide variety of areas, including coding, creating new media, writing, design, business, and much much more.

Especially considering the new AI models are much more general than GPT-4, which is already a massive powerhouse of a model. It is expected that Gemini will be the most powerful AI model yet.
