For the love of God, please tell us why you're so afraid of China

I've been using Reddit for years, and I've noticed over the past year or so a surge in posts from what I can only assume are Chinese citizens (you know, the ones with a single letter username and a single post history with a single comment). <br><br>I'm not sure what the point of this is. What are the goals of the CCP in this endeavor? Why are they so afraid of Taiwanese (or is it Hong Kongese?) independence? If Taiwan and Hong Kong declare independence, what is the worst that could happen? They'll be enemies of the CCP, so what? They'll still have a working economy and government. <br><br>I'm very confused as to why Beijing is so afraid of this. If Taiwan and Hong Kong became independent, the CCP could just cut economic ties with them and call it a day. What's the worst that could happen?
