Is it ok for a guy to wear a bathing suit inside the pool?

I do not intend to harm or offend anyone with this question. I am not trying to get "pervert mode" on. I just want to know, is it ok for a guy to wear a bathing suit in the pool or is it weird? I know they are meant to be worn inside the water but I don't want to be judged. I currently live in a tropical island nation in Southeast Asia and people don't usually wear bathing suits here, especially in public swimming pools.
