Is my dad having a mental breakdown?

My family has been having an extremely difficult time. My dad is a contractor, and he had a large job that he was suppose to do in the summer, but it got pushed back until autumn, which has caused him a lot of financial issues.<br><br>Also my mom is sick with some sort of heart condition, she recently got out of the hospital and is basically bedridden.<br><br>Today my dad was talking to one of his best friends, who has been trying to help him find a way to get out of debt. <br><br>My dad made a comment saying that he would think about suicide if he would loose the house. Is that a mental breakdown or is he just being serious?
