I feel like this is a story that can happen to any woman and the fact that it's based on a real person makes it even worse.

It's the story of Evelyn Oakley, a woman in the 1930s who was married to a doctor and was a nurse herself. She was a nurse at the local mental institution. The book is based on the real person who was known for her bravery and for standing up to the system.

What's terrible is that her husband, a man of science, is the one who eventually becomes abusive towards her. It's like he only sees her as a tool to get his hands on her. He has sex with her whenever he pleases. He even tries to make her get a hysterectomy even though she says no. He is a monster.

And the thing that gets me the most is that her husband's abuse is so bad that she has to go to a mental hospital for it. They see her as crazy, not him. They try to keep her there for a long time, saying that she is unfit for motherhood and needs to be institutionalized.

It's so depressing to think about a woman having to fight so hard to keep her children with her. And it's even more depressing that this happened to her husband. He was a doctor and a scientist and he didn't even see how much of a monster he was being.

The worst part is that it happened to a real woman and the book is a retelling of her story.

I hope that women today are better protected than they were in the 1930s.
