For anyone who hasn’t read the book “Evelyn” by Jason Mott, it’s about a guy who goes back in time and kills his infant self. The story follows two timelines, the life he had before he killed his baby self, and the life he had afterwards.

The ending is a bit sad for men who have kids and I thought I’d share it here.

Towards the end of the book, the main character, Jim, goes to talk to his adult son about what he did.

Jim asks his son why he thinks he’s done with girls. His son says he’s not done with them, it’s just that he’s seen them and he doesn’t like them.

He then asks his son if he’s had any girls he’s liked. He says he has. He then asks why he doesn’t try to make them happy, because he obviously cares for them.

His son says he can’t, because they’re all married now. He then asks if he’d like to marry a woman he loved. He says he doesn’t have the time.

He then asks his son if he thinks it’s worth it to be alive. His son says it is. He asks his son why he doesn’t have children.

He says it’s too much trouble.

He then asks if he’s happy with that choice. His son says he is.

He then asks his son why he’s never told him about his ex girlfriends. His son says it’s because they’re dead.

He asks his son what he means. His son says he killed them because he wanted them for himself.

He then says that he knows why Jim killed his baby self. He says it’s because he wanted him to have a chance. He then asks his son why he’s so cruel to himself.

He says he’s not, but it doesn’t matter. He says that he knows his father did what was best. He says that his father did it for him, and that he’ll continue to do it.

The ending was so sad for me. It made me think about how much more pain and suffering we’d cause by being alive. I know it’s an extreme point of view, but it definitely made me realize that my time is much more important than his time.

I’m not saying that I’m going to go kill myself, but I wanted to share this ending with you all because I thought it was a very good read and definitely a very good example of what kind of consequences men will have in the future.
