I thought it was my boyfriend...

It was my freshman year of college. I was out at a club with a few friends, and I was getting drunk pretty fast. I had to use the restroom so I excused myself to go. They were single person restrooms, so I went into the first open one I found. There was no lock on the door, but I didn't notice. As I was squatting over the toilet, I heard the door open and shut. I thought it was my boyfriend, and that he had waited for me to go into the restroom. I turned to look at him and to my surprise, it was not him. It was a man I’d never seen before. He was tall and lanky with a menacing leer on his face.

I was startled and scared, and I didn’t know what to do. He made his way closer to me, so I hit him. I punched him in his face and ran until I found my boyfriend. He was hanging out by the bar with a few of our friends waiting for me to get back. I was frantic and crying over what had just happened. He grabbed me and made me tell him what happened. I told him and he said he was going to go find the guy and beat him up. He made me promise not to leave his side until he got back. I said I wouldn’t, and then he left.

I sat at the bar with our friends and waited for my boyfriend to return. I had been there for about 10 minutes when a man matching my attackers description walked by the spot I was in. I was so petrified, I couldn’t scream. I couldn’t say anything. I was frozen in fear. The man smiled at me and then walked away. Luckily, my boyfriend had made his way back to where I was. I told him what had just happened and he was VERY irritated. He went to go find him again, and I told our friends I wanted to go home. They said they would walk me home, and that was fine.

By the time my boyfriend found us, we were almost back to the dorms. He was still irritated, and I could tell he was still looking for the man who attacked me. He walked me to my dorm room, and told me to promise him I would call if I needed anything. I promised him I would, and he left. The next morning he came to my room. He brought a baseball bat with him, and told me to keep it until he got back. He said he was going to go find the man who attacked me and he would be right back. I told him no, and that I didn’t want anything to happen to him.

He left anyway. I didn’t hear from him until around noon, and at that time he had some of his friends with him. They all had bats and they looked very angry. They told me they had found the man, but that he had gotten away. They stayed with me all day, and they didn’t leave me alone at all until my boyfriend got back.

That was 12 years ago, and I still think about that night every once in a while. I don’t know what would have happened to me if the man attacked me, but I’m glad he’s not around anymore. So guy from the club 12 years ago, lets not meet again.

EDIT: Holy crap, this got a lot of attention really fast. Thank you for the awards and feedback everyone.
