It's probably cheaper to fly out of a major airport than the tiny one near your house

I live in Colorado, and was trying to fly out to Washington D.C. for Spring break with some friends.

Colorado Springs is where I live, and I started my search query with flights from COS > DCA.

Then I thought, "well I should probably also check Denver, since maybe we can get a better flight out of there."

IT WAS LIKE $600 CHEAPER, FROM DENVER.

So if you live in a smaller city, it might be worth your time to check major airports near you.

EDIT: I didn't know so many of you hated Colorado, haha. I love it here...

EDIT 2: I also didn't realize there was so many mean people just lurking on a subreddit for no reason... (i got a few no reason downsides)

EDIT 3: I'm a college student and I don't have a car. So asking me to drive to Denver isn't feasible, and there's no public transportation to there from the Springs (I looked). There is an Amtrak, but that's about 4 hours and $50.
