I'm a gun owner who carries everywhere I can...but I don't think teachers should carry at school.

The first thing I think of when I here the argument that teachers should carry guns at school is Columbine. The shooters were in school for about 45 minutes before anyone knew what was happening. There were armed sheriffs deputies in the school parking lot who didn't do anything until the shooters ended it for themselves.

Why would we expect teachers to do any more? I can't think of a scenario where a teacher would be able to effectively respond to a shooter in the school. I would think students would either prevent them from drawing their weapon, or they would hit innocent students.

I do have faith that my daughter's school would do a good job of training teachers, and I also agree that can't stop a bad person with a gun, you can only stop them with a good person with a gun...but I think that good person would realistically be police or anyone trained specifically for the job. I can't think of any realistic scenario where a teacher would be able to effectively stop a school shooter.

Thanks for reading. Stay safe.

Edit- Thank you for the kind comments.
