I'm a black American gun owner. I believe that I need to be armed to protect myself from white Americans. That's racist, right?

I love my country, but I think there's a threat to my safety (and to my family) from within. Because of that, I feel I personally need to arm myself to protect myself from that threat.

I'm black, and I believe that white Americans are the threat to my safety. White supremacy is a growing problem, and as a black person, I feel I need to protect myself from that. I travel extensively, and I don't want to get caught in a situation with radical bigots and not be able to defend myself.

The problem is, I'm not sure it's okay to think like this. If I were white and said that I feel I need to protect myself from blacks because of black nationalism, that would be racist and wrong. That kind of thinking doesn't seem right for me either.

Am I being racist?
