A few weeks ago, one of my regulars at work called me and asked if I had time to talk. I said sure, and she introduced herself. She told me that she had been looking at my profile on a popular dating site and that she was worried about her sister.
She said that her sister had gone on a date the night before and she had not come home. She was worried, but her parents were not. She said that they had not filed a missing persons report, and that she was scared. She then said that she had a feeling that her sister was on the same dating site as I am, and she was wondering if I had matched with her sister in the past. I asked for her sister's profile name, and she gave it to me. I then looked at her profile.
I had matched with her sister, but we never actually talked. I then messaged her sister, telling her I was scared and I really hoped she was ok. I also told her to please message me if she was ok, or if she needed help.
She messaged me back almost immediately. She said she was ok, and she would probably never be on the site again. She said she had gone on a date, and it had gone really badly. I asked her to elaborate, and she said that she would tell me if I wanted to hear it.
I said that I did, and she told me the story.

My sister and the guy she had matched with got to talking. He was reasonable, though she said he was actually kind of boring. He was a very straightforward guy, who did not mess around.
When he asked her out, she agreed. He told her that he would come pick her up at 8, and then he hung up. She was confused at how short and to the point he was, but she said she figured that maybe he was just boring, and not weird.
She got ready for the date, and then she went outside to wait for him to pick her up. 8 o'clock came and went, and he did not show. She started to get worried, and she decided to call him. She dialed his number, and a woman answered. My sister was confused, and she asked who was on the phone. The girl said that she was the guy she was supposed to go on a date with's daughter. My sister said "hello", and the girl said "hello, is my daddy with you? I told him not to go on any more dates, but he never listens."
My sister was horrified. She said she asked who she was, and the girl told her that she was his daughter. She said that her mom and dad had divorced 5 years ago, and her dad was supposed to be alone, but he always went on dates. She said that she had made him promise that he would never take any of the ladies home, because she did not want to know what happened when he took them home.
My sister said she was so horrified that she almost hung up. She said she asked the little girl if she knew what her father did with the ladies, or where he took them. The girl said that she had followed her father on one of his dates before, and she knew where he took them. She said that she would text her the address, and then she hung up.
My sister was almost in tears at this point. She said she was so horrified that she just wanted to go inside and tell her parents what had happened, but she was also so curious as to what this guy did with the ladies. She said she decided to wait and see if the girl would actually text her the address.
She waited for about 10 minutes, and then she got a text with an address. She said she looked at the address, and then she put her phone away. She said that she was so angry and horrified that she just went inside, and went to bed.
I asked her if she had actually gone to the address, out of curiosity. She said that she had, but she had not gone inside. She said that she had gone to the address, and she saw the house. She said she walked up to the door, and she looked inside one of the windows. She said that she saw the guy she was supposed to go on a date with inside. She said that she saw him... doing something... to a woman. She said she did not actually see the woman, but she saw her shoes on the floor, and she saw the guy kneeling on the floor next to them. She said she did not want to know what he was doing, so she turned around and ran.
She said that was it. I asked her if she had told her parents about it, and she said that she had not. She said that she told her friend at work, and her friend believed her. I asked her if she had filed a missing persons report for the lady, and she said that she had not.
I asked her why not, and she said that she was not actually positive that the lady was missing. She said that the guy had said that he was going on a date, not that he was going to kill her. I asked her if she was insane. I asked her how she could just leave this woman to die. She said that she was not going to die. I asked her how she knew that, and she said that she had actually seen the woman leave the house.
I was horrified. I asked her why the hell she would let this woman just leave. She said that she figured that the guy was just weird, and the lady knew what she was doing. I asked her if she had talked to the lady, and she said that she had not.
I asked her if she knew what had happened to the lady, and she said that she did not. I asked her why she did not actually go to the door and ask, and she said that she was scared. I asked her why she did not call the police, and she said that she did not actually see anything illegal.
At this point, I was so mad that I almost hung up on her. But then I remembered how scared and worried she was. I decided that I would just have to be a grown up about this, and not get mad. I asked her what she wanted me to do, exactly. She said that she did not know.
I asked her if she knew the guys name, and she said that she did. I asked her if she knew where he lived, and she said that she did. I asked her if she could text me the address, and she said that she could.
I asked her if she was willing to go to the police station and file a missing persons report with me. She said that she was. So we made plans to meet at the police station the next day.
I hung up, and then I got the text with the address. I looked at it, and then I put my phone away.
I did not sleep at all that night. I could not get the story out of my head. It made me so mad that I could not even think about anything else.
When I woke up the next day, I got dressed and then I went to the police station. I saw my friend's sister there, and she looked worried. I asked her if everything was ok, and she said that it was not.
She said that last night, around 9 o'clock, she got a call. She said she was in bed, and she fell asleep around 7, so she was surprised to be getting a call. She said she looked at her phone, and she saw that it was a number she did not recognize. She said she answered it, wondering who it was.
There was nobody on the phone, she said. But she could hear breathing. She said she kept asking who it was, but nobody answered. In fact, nobody said anything at all. She said she kept hearing the breathing, but no words.
Then she said she heard something that scared her to death. She said she heard the guy she was supposed to go on a date with say "I am the person your father warned you about." in her ear. She said that she hung up the phone immediately, and then she pulled the covers up over her head.
She said she eventually fell back asleep, but she was so scared. She said that she was glad that I was there, because she did not know what to do on her own.
I asked her to elaborate on what the guy had said. I asked her what her father had warned her about, exactly. She said that her father used to always tell her to be careful. She said that he warned her that there were monsters in the world, and she needed to be careful.
I asked her how old she was, and she said that she was 25. I asked her how old she was when her father warned her about monsters, and she said that she was 8. I asked her if she remembered anything else that her father had said about the monsters. She said that her father had told her that the monsters were regular people, but that they were bad.
I asked her why her father would warn her about something that might not happen until she was grown up. She said that she did not know, but she figured that he was just scared.
I asked her if her father was ok, and she said that he was not. She said that her father had died 3 years ago.
I asked her how he died, and she said that she did not know. She said that one day, he just did not come home. She said that they looked for him, but they never found him.
I asked her if she suspected the guy from the date of
