As you know, yesterday there was an attack of Palestinians against Jewish worshippers on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. An Arab terrorist opened fire at the group with an improvised Carlo pistol. The gun exploded and sent shrapnel flying everywhere, injuring two people. Fortunately, the terrorist was promptly arrested by Israeli police.

Moreover, yesterday was the holiday of Tisha B'av, when Jews around the world mourn the destruction of the Second Temple and hope for the arrival of the Messiah. It is a very significant day for many Jews. During the holiday, Jews traditionally visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem and pray. Many visited the Temple Mount as well in order to honor the holiday.

You may be wondering why Palestinians would attack Jews on the Temple Mount. It is because the location is the holiest site in Judaism and the third holiest site in Islam. While Jews call it the Temple Mount, Muslims refer to it as Haram esh-Sharif, or 'The Noble Sanctuary'. Palestinians often claim that Israel plans to destroy the mosques located on the Mount (Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock), in order to build a Third Temple. However, this is completely unfounded and a lie. Israel has repeatedly stated its plans to maintain the status quo on the Temple Mount, with no intention of touching the mosques or destroying them in any way.

So why do Palestinians continue to believe this lie? Well, it's because of their leadership (the Waqf), who consistently spews out these lies and false information to its people. Moreover, the Waqf doesn't allow non-Muslim visitors to enter the mosques, which further fuels Palestinians' anger and misconception that Israel plans to destroy the mosques.

The Temple Mount is the center of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and a huge point of contention. Palestinians claim that the Mount belongs to them and the Arab world, while Jews (Israelis) claim that the Mount belongs to them.

When Israel took control of East Jerusalem and the Old City during the Six Day War (1967), it gave control of the Temple Mount to Jordan. While Israel could have taken control of the Mount, it did not. Israel understood that the Mount was a holy location in Islam, and as such, gave control to the Waqf in order to avoid conflict.

Despite Israel's generosity in giving control of the Mount to the Waqf, the organization continues to incite against Israel and promote lies. Israel has done everything in its power to maintain the status quo on the Temple Mount. Despite this, the Waqf continues to spread hate, inciting Palestinians to hate and harm Israelis.

The Temple Mount has played a central role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades. Palestinians consistently claim that Israel plans to destroy the mosques on the Mount, despite no evidence of this. It's clear that the conflict is fueled by hate and misconception on the Palestinian side, which is constantly fueled by their leadership.
