Why is the term "econ" so derogatory?

To be a doctor is to be someone who is intensely dedicated to public health, and who will develop a superpower to help human beings to get better. To be a lawyer is someone who is intensely dedicated to the world's laws and who will develop a superpower to defend people against unjust punishment. To be an engineer is someone who is intensely dedicated to building the world's infrastructure and who will develop a superpower to build better bridges, better roads, better dams, etc. And to be an economist is to be... someone who develops a superpower to become extremely good at the game of Monopoly?
