When I was younger, I moved away from my parents in the middle of the country to live in the capital city. I was only 17 and knew that if things didn't go well, I could always come back home. Luckily, everything worked out for the better. I started working at a restaurant, then a bar, and eventually, I got a job as an administrative assistant. Then, I started a relationship with a guy that was in a band, and soon enough, I had my first experience with a hard drug. That was the reason I ended up in a squat with three other people. \
\
I didn't know them before moving in, but one of my housemates, let's call him Tom, was a friend of a friend. After moving in, I started seeing him as a brother figure. He was a very kind-hearted person and he was the one who took me to hospital after the incident happened. \
\
The house was huge. It had three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, two bathrooms, a storage room, a big backyard, and a big basement. It was a bit run down and we were squatting, but we had access to water and electricity through some means. The previous owners were an elderly couple and after the wife died, the husband was moved to an asylum and the house was abandoned. We knew that there was little to no risk of the police kicking us out because the husband had no idea where he was and he surely wasn't going end up back in the house. I was a little sad about the situation, but they didn't appear to care about the place. None of them did. \
\
We usually had houseguests overnight and we were mostly open to end up with someone, as long as no one was too messy or noisy. That was until the night I met her. I was told that her name was Amy and she was a friend of a housemate that I didn't talk much to. We can call this girl Eva. Eva was older than me, in her mid-twenties, and she was very quiet. She was mostly shy, but after a while I just thought she was cold. She was kind of standoffish, ignoring mostly everyone except Tom. Even when I was trying to have a conversation with her, she appeared to be bored and distant. We had a few loud parties with people coming and going all night long and she never said anything about the noise. She wasn't home often, though. She spent most of her nights with her boyfriend. \
\
Amy was her boyfriend's cousin. She had long, curly black hair and green eyes. She was fairly pretty and she seemed to be in good spirits. She was bubbly and friendly. It was very late when she arrived and she was already a bit drunk. Her cousin was high on something, so he went straight to bed. I was a bit upset about the whole situation, but I was willing to let it go. She was staying for just one night and this was Eva's house as much as it was mine. \
\
I was talking to Tom in the backyard, drinking and laughing, and I remember I was feeling quite happy that night. It was late, though, and I was starting to feel tired. After Amy joined us, I was mostly talking to her, trying to make her feel more comfortable. Tom wasn't really paying attention to her, he was in his own world, so I tried to be nice. Then, she started asking questions about the house. She was curious about why we were squatting. I was telling her the story, and I don't know what I did wrong, but she suddenly stopped talking to me. She was just looking at me, with this weird smile on her face, and I recall that I felt a big discomfort in that moment. I tried to talk to her more, but she just ignored me. \
\
We ended up going to bed and I fell asleep a few minutes after. I was woken in the middle of the night by footsteps. I was alone in my room, but I heard someone walking around the house. I thought that maybe Eva's boyfriend was looking for something to drink or snack on, but he was too quiet. After a while, I couldn't sleep anymore because I had too much anxiety. I decided to check where the noise came from, but I didn't leave my room. I opened my door very slowly and peeked through it. \
\
It was Amy. She had a weird walk, kind of like a circle around the living room, and she was muttering something to herself. I don't know what she was saying or even if it was in English, but she sounded agitated. \
\
I quickly shut the door and I didn't know what to do. My first thought was to wake Eva up and warn her, but then I thought that maybe Amy was just looking for something to drink and I didn't want to end up looking like a paranoid weirdo. So I end up going back to bed and falling asleep. \
\
I was woken up by Tom in the morning, crying in the bathroom. I found Amy in the bathtub, with blood all over her face. After I end up asking what was going on, Eva came into the bathroom, she was covered in blood, and she screamed at me to get out. \
\
Amy ended up cutting her own face with a kitchen knife. Eva was the one who found her, and she said that she was talking about the devil and stuff. I felt terrible for some reason, mostly because I knew that something was wrong and I didn't do anything about it. I tried talking to Eva, but she wasn't in the right state to talk. Amy was taken to a psychiatric hospital and I never saw her again. She never apologized to me for scaring me and she didn't seem to care that I was there. \
\
Eva ended up moving out after the whole situation and I felt bad. Tom was mad at her for a while, but he eventually forgave her for bringing Amy over. \
\
I don't know if she had any sinister intentions or if she was just mentally ill and she didn't know what she was doing. I don't really care either, because she ended up leaving my life. I just want to say that Amy, you're not welcome.
