Always check your hair after getting a hair cut, before you pay and leave. I made the mistake of waiting until I got home to discover I had the worst hair cut of my life

As the title says, a few weeks ago I got the worst, most asymmetric hair cut of my life. When I got home and looked at myself in the mirror I was horrified.

In my late 20s with short hair, and all of my hair on one side of my head is a third shorter than the other. The hairdresser literally spent 3x more time cutting and focusing on one side (left) than the other (right). I’m losing hair due to male pattern baldness, and the hairdresser decided on her own to focus more of her attention on the side with more hair and barely touched the other side, which is where most of my hair loss has occurred.

She spent 3x more time cutting and focusing on the left side than the right side (I made her redo the right side twice), and after spending so much time on my left side, she barely even went through the right side at all before telling me she was done. I trusted her by being a long term customer and didn’t check my hair at all until I got home and saw what she actually did in the mirror.

I looked in the mirror after she told me she was done, but only looked at my face and didn’t look from behind or at the sides. If you get your hair cut regularly, always check it before leaving. Do not make the same mistake I did.

edit: Jesus this blew up. Who cares if it’s not a universal problem? This is an advice sub after all. It’s just advice, not a life changing world problem. If you want to be critical of something, point out the fact that this is a hair cut issue. This is not a problem with a solution in the real world, it can’t be prevented. This is just an anecdotal frustration.
