My (23F) bf (25M) said his ex is the best looking girl he’s ever seen

My boyfriend is pretty much perfect and has been nothing but lovely, kind, and caring. We live together and we’ve been together for almost a year. I love him very much. We have been having great conversations, he’s been moving our relationship forward, saying really nice and thoughtful things about our future together. I’m very happy with him. <br><br>One of his friends asked him in front of me “who’s the best looking girl you’ve ever seen” and before I even have time to get uncomfortable about where this conversation is going he says without hesitation “well it’s obviously my ex”. <br><br>He’s talked about her before. She’s really really beautiful according to him, like the type that when you walk into a room everyone stares and is blown away. I don’t think he was lying about that. I also know he doesn’t find me to be his type. I’ve stopped focusing on trying to change my appearance for his sake and focused on my gym routine so I don’t care about that part. <br><br>What hurt was when I asked him “have you ever thought a girl was that beautiful when she was in front of you and he said no. <br><br>That made me feel bad. It was hard for me to let it go but I put it aside. <br><br>But then his friend said “what about your current gf?” And my bf kind of stuttered with a “well, this doesn’t have anything to do with MY gf” sort of thing. <br><br>That was like, Ouch. <br><br>Like, I get it he’s not into me like that but he could have said “well she’s my beautiful girlfriend” or something. <br><br>I don’t know what to do. I feel like this keeps coming up in MY mind but when I bring it up with him he gets upset that I’m calling him shallow. I don’t think he’s shallow but it still hurts when your bf says his ex is the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen. <br><br>How would you handle this?
