I'm honestly tired of medieval settings and fantasy themes ripped straight from European folklore. What elements should I use to create a fantasy theme based in Asian culture and folklore?

I've been making some changes to my worldbuilding project, and I found myself stuck again. The first theme I went for was a dark fantasy theme that drew heavily from European folklore. However, I honestly got really bored with that quickly. I just got really tired of seeing the same cliches used and overused again. Devils, demons, angels, vampires, werewolves, and zombies. I also got tired of seeing the same medieval setting. I'm not even sure how I ended up with that, I'm Asian. I'm from Asia. I should know better than to draw from European culture. But I honestly have no idea where to start. I don't want to just rip themes straight from Asian folklore. I want to create something unique with those elements. So, I'm turning to you, kind reddit users. What elements should I incorporate to make a unique and engaging theme using themes from Asian folklore?

Some details you can use to help with suggestions:

- The world is based in an alt Earth where the events of history happened at different times in different locations. (For example, The Mongols conquered southern Asia like in OTL, but it was the Koreans who conquered northern Asia.) The story is based in a region heavily inspired by Indonesia, with some elements based in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Brunei.

- Despite the story being in chronological order, the events are told through a non-linear format in which the story is told through vignettes, with each vignette being centuries apart and told in reverse chronological order.

- I have decided to use the element of making the main characters of each vignette be the incarnations of the same soul. The first incarnation is a mysterious figure who is a trickster with magical abilities. They seek to prank the gods and disrupt the natural order of things.

- Each incarnation of the trickster has a familiar who is the same being, reincarnated and living different lives in response to the way the trickster lived their past life.

- The setting is modern day. Provinces are based on modern day countries, with the capital being loosely based on Singapore. The society is a post-scarcity one in which all basic needs are provided for, and people essentially work because they want to.

- Technology is based on magic. Essentially, any technology that exists is magic. Cars run on magic. Computers run on magic. Anything manmade that isn't a tool runs on magic.

- With the exception of the trickster, magic only exists as technology. There are no magical creatures or forces of nature. The only exception to this are spirits. There are spirits for everything. Spirits of elements, spirits of objects, spirits of ideas. People are able to communicate with these spirits to some degree.

- The people worship many gods and spirits, but they worship technology above all else. Cars, computers, and other devices are worshipped as idols. Magic is worshipped as a god. People are encouraged to find their passion in life, with the most important passion being passion for work.

- The world is inspired by Asian culture and folklore, with some elements based in European folklore. The world is essentially Asia if it is worshipped as a cult. Essentially, it's like the way people view Silicon Valley, but it's the entire continent. Essentially, it's essentially Korea or Japan but Asian.

- The tone is essentially dark themes and uncomfortable topics with a façade of lightheartedness and positivity. It's essentially 1984 but if the government tricks you into loving it instead of brainwashing you into it.

- The story is essentially about the nature of individuality, work, and progress. The main theme is about whether or not we would be better off as individuals or as a collective, and whether or not the individual is lost in society's pursuit of progress.

If any of this needs more clarification, please let me know and I'll try to help. Thank you in advance for your help.
