Does anybody else see this?

In the United States, We have hundreds of thousands of people with no jobs and no homes. We also have thousands of homes scheduled to be demolished because they cannot be sold because they are in too poor of condition to be sold. Does it make sense to anybody else to hire these people to fix these homes that are in poor condition and then let these newly repaired homes be used as a place for the homeless to temporarily stay and get back on their feet? Seriously, what am I missing? What is the flaw in this plan?
