A lot of people were fooled by the GPT-4 chatbot. It was good at answering questions and writing essays. It had a limited memory so you could suggest the topic and ask follow up questions. But you needed to write everything. And when you had to edit the text it was a pain.

Copilot is a different story. I wrote this whole post with just a couple of clicks. I clicked on “write a post for r/technology” and here I am. I didn’t write anything. I can now go back and edit and the edit suggestions are spot on.

I know the technology has been around for some time but the latest release from Microsoft is something else. If you haven’t tried it for a couple of months you owe it to yourself to try it again.

Its available everywhere and it’s changing the way that I work. It will change the way you work, study and live your life. It’s like having superpowers.

It’s writing whole emails for me. It summarises my emails. It will chat with customer support Chatbots. It will summarise loooong legal documents. It even writes whole slide decks for PowerPoint.

And the search engine is so good at answering questions. I can ask “what did Satya Nadella say about this at the recent conference” and bang it has the answer for me.

I know that Google is working on its own AI but this is light years ahead right now. It’s as revolutionary as the first time that you used Google over Altavista or Lycos.

Brilliant work Microsoft. I’m going to get so much more done at work.

adaline.co.uk

edit: - it might be worth mentioning that I’m just using Office 365, I do have the business plus version. It’s basically my “go to” application for work now.

I use the chat (which is what GPT-4 is) to search and create.

I use the box in Word to do more in depth stuff.

The search is actually better than Google.

adaline.co.uk
