If this place is so great, why does it suck so much?

For years I've heard it be described as sanctuary for free thinkers, self described as "The front page of the internet" but everything political or socially relevant I've found to be overrun by pseudointellectual morons, just taking up space and spewing forth the same hogwash. The popular subs are also equally cringeworthy and filled to the brim with circlejerking idiots. Is there actually any redeeming value to be found in this toilet?
