YouTube (and the Internet as a whole) was much better when people were producing content as a hobby instead of a "job"

In the "old days" of YouTube you would often find content made by people who had real jobs; people who were just making content as a hobby and because they were passionate about it. These people didn't care so much about views, or being "consistant", they just enjoyed it. And you could tell.

Now don't get me wrong there are still plenty of good hobbyists on YouTube, but it's prowled by professionals who are making a living off of it, which kills the spirit of the content. Also, these people are 100% in it for the money. Anything they do is for profit, and that always shines through in the content they create. It also creates a culture of competition in which the smaller creators get smothered because the audience is flooding the channels with millions of subscribers, instead of the little guy who, in my opinion, is often making much more interesting and better quality content.

I'm seeing this more and more everywhere around the internet, and it honest to god makes me sick to my stomach to see this happen.
