CMV: Recent shootings are nothing in comparison to the mass murder of Chinese and Native Americans that happened in this country.

I'm extremely annoyed about the recent shootings only because it's all the news ever talks about. I'm not minimizing the tragedy that is the murder of 32 innocent people. But there have been far worse massacres of innocent Chinese and Native Americans in this country. But when these recent shootings happen, this country comes to a screeching halt and nothing else is talked about for weeks. No one ever talks about the hundreds of Chinese that were murdered in this country because they were Chinese. We celebrate a holiday about the mass murder of Native Americans. Don't even get me started on the Cherokee or Trail of Tears. I understand people are getting killed and it's a tragedy, but I think we really need to get some perspective and stop being so dramatic. It's nothing compared to what this country has done in the past.<br><br>EDIT: Well this was a surprise. I thought this post was going to downvoted to oblivion or have a million comments saying I have no idea what I'm talking about. There's a lot of good points and comments here that I really appreciate reading through. A lot of you have changed my view and I no longer think shootings are nothing compared to the mass murder of Chinese and Native Americans. There is obviously a lot of differences in the history of the country, media attention, and technology, which this post didn't take into account. I still think there is a disconnect between how much emphasis and media attention this recent shooting receives and how this country ignores the mass murder of Chinese and Native Americans. But thinking these recent shootings are nothing in comparison to the mass murder of Chinese and Native Americans that occurred in this country is just plain stupid and extremely privileged. <br><br>EDIT2: I'd like to add for anyone still reading this, that if you think the media over exaggerates how bad these shootings are, you're just not paying attention to the right media outlets.
