CMV: The Democratic Party, especially under Biden, has become more akin to a right-wing neoliberal party that would have been viewed as unacceptable to the American left a decade or two ago, and that has actively worked to silence popular left-leaning voices.

I am under the impression that the vast majority of users in this sub are left-leaning Americans who identify as Democrats. I am not, and I am British, but this is something that I have noticed about the Democratic Party since Biden got in power. I believe that the Democratic Party has lurched far to the right in recent years, and that the Biden administration has been an active participant in this. I believe Biden's presidency has indicated a desire to return to a pre-Trump status quo, which I think is right-wing in modern political terms. This has culminated in Biden labelling Bernie Sanders a "socialist" in pejorative terms ahead of the Nevada caucus, which I think is what really confirmed this to me. Furthermore, the party has silenced and worked against popular left-leaning voices, even going as far as to oust Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee for her criticism of Israel, which I see as a profound injustice.

I understand that by European standards, Biden is a right-wing neoliberal with many right-wing policies. I understand that many Americans are not European, and have different definitions of left and right. I understand that the Democrats still have left-wing and progressive policies. I just think that these are minor exceptions to an overall right-wing agenda. I would like you to change my view by showing that the Democrats have not lurched to the right in recent years, or that the party is still a champion of the American left.
