The used condom I found in my house on move-in day was actually a decoration

I once moved into a rental house that my then-girlfriend had rented. I was moving in a week before she was so that we wouldn’t have to do it on the weekend when everyone else was moving in (a real pain in the ass). There was used condom in the bedroom on the floor. It was flat on one end and had some kind of decorative glitter in it. I thought that whoever lived there before us was disgusting and the way some people lived in squalor was disgusting.

I moved on from it but then a few weeks later, I found another one. Same kind, totally flat on one end, glitter in it used as a decoration on a desk. I realized that had to be what the one in the bedroom was as well. I thought that the previous tenant(s) must have been bizarre. Boy was I wrong. Years later my then-girlfriend now wife and I were talking about the house. She asked me if I had ever noticed the condoms on the lampshades. I told her that I hadn’t and she said that the previous tenant lived in the house for three years and had a condom on the lampshades in every room. I have no idea what inspired this but I kind of enjoy the eccentricity of it in a non-judgmental way.

I think it’s great that she was able to live her life the way she wanted and it makes me happy to think of her. I’d like to think of her as the kind of person who replaced the condoms every so often and wonder if it was part of some strange spiritual practice. Anyway, she might inspire you too or you might just chuckle to yourself at the memory of someone who probably doesn’t even remember that she did that.

EDIT: Apparently, she was sticking them in the ceiling corners near the light fixtures and they would occasionally fall down like the two I saw.

EDIT2: I have no idea who this person is or what she actually did with these condoms but I like to imagine her as this strange woman who was inspiring in her oddities.

EDIT3: People keep saying that this is obviously used as a contraceptive used in a sexual act and used as a decoration. I didn’t know that people did that. It makes sense.

EDIT4: I see a lot of people are frustrated at the lack of details. I don’t blame you. I don’t have any more information because I wasn’t there the entire time my wife lived in the house. This is something that I literally remembered from the conversation I had with my wife about it. I didn’t know used condoms were used as decorations before this.
