My (26F) boyfriend (27M) is a jerk when he drinks

We have been together for 3 years and he always drinks when I'm around. <br><br>The first year of our relationship he was a sweet, gentlemanly boyfriend. I could see the change in him when he drank because he would get quiet, so I started not to drink around him or I'd drink very little. <br><br>As time went on, he started to get mean. He talks down on me and is just rude. He doesn't physically hurt me but he can be a bully. <br><br>This year I've noticed it's worse. He can be mean to me even when he is sober. When he does drink, he still goes into this mode. <br><br>I don't know what to do. I don't want to break up with him. I love him and I know he's not that person when he is sober. It's just when he drinks. <br><br>What do I do?
