All the hoopla about Colin Kaepernick has brought to mind the street preacher you see every once in a while shouting about the end of the world and how you should repent, I'm not trying to say Colin Kaepernick is shouting crazy stuff at random people going about their day. He's trying to bring light to a specific cause (see info below) and bring about change. But just like that crazy preacher shouting in the middle of town at noon I'm not going to stop and pay attention to him shouting random stuff at me.

The street preacher is just too over the top to really take seriously and I doubt anyone actually stops and listens to the guy when he's shouting at the top of his lungs and waving a sign around. Although the message the preacher is conveying is probably a real point of view or concern; their method of communication is flawed. I imagine similar to how someone that has never actually read the bible when they are shouting passages at strangers as proof that they know this is how its supposed to be. This turns a lot of people off and it usually ends with the street preacher shouting at someone who couldn't care less and then they go about their day.

That is exactly what Colin Kaepernick is; a preacher man shouting about his cause at the wrong time in the wrong way at the wrong people. He has the right to protest by sitting; but he shouldn't. Just like I don't stop to talk with the preacher man shouting random passages; I can't be bothered to have a conversation with Colin Kaepernick. In the end; their preacher man protest shout method turns people off from their actual cause and it has the opposite effect.

The Black Lives Matter movement was created when George Zimmerman was acquitted after murdering Trayvon Martin in cold blood. Since then it has spread like wildfire across the nation, the movement has been covered by every major media outlet and is a part of the pop culture in the USA. The movement is still going today, but the media coverage has died down significantly since it first started gaining steam. So what better time for Colin Kaepernick to shout about the movement again at the top of his lungs, waving a sign of his protest, standing on his soapbox than the present. But at what cost?

I'm not saying what he did is wrong necessarily; but he shouldn't have done it. There are plenty of times and ways to express your views. It's interesting he didn't remove his hat at the start of the anthem either; but once he started shouting at the top of his lungs about his cause it was too much. I truly believe he would have been more successful if he had gone about this another way. Thank you for reading; may you plant a seed of change today.

TL;DR - preacher man shouting random stuff at the top of his lungs in the middle of town square at random people is the same as Colin Kaepernick shouting random stuff at the top of his lungs about his cause at random people.

EDIT 1; I know preacher man is shouting at random people, that's the whole point. I'm not saying Colin is going up to people and shouting, but he is at the wrong place and time. Although I also understand he is a celebrity and he can't do anything without the spotlight shining down on him. preacher man shout method isn't a good method to use in the first place. And I doubt that anyone who doesn't already believe in preacher mans message is going to stop and be swayed from normal everyday activities.

EDIT 2 Thank you kind strangers for the silver and gold. I appreciate it! I had no idea this would get this big and I'm still reading through the 2,000+ comments. I'm trying to respond to as many as I can. I understand everyone isn't going to agree with my take on this, that's why this sub is so great! People can have different views and come together to try to change each others view! It's great. Keep it civil, don't personal attack anyone else. I've seen a few personal attacks and show stoppers in the comments. Don't be preacher man shouting random passages and offending people when you shout them. I'm not trying to offend anyone; I'm just trying to have a conversation. Well 7,000+ comments now. Wow!
