This earth discovery happens every so often (about every 7 years or so) and is (scale 1:1) about 3.8 centimeters each time. This is why the moon will not become smaller than this length at some point in the future.

Also, so far there have only been 8 earth discoveries announced, which means the moon must have existed for over 56 years.

Don't know why the people at NASA still claim that the moon is much much older...

I mean, the earth (scale 1:1) moon shrinking by 3.8 centimeters every 7 years is still a lot faster than our soil and rock shrinking by even a centimeter per 10,000 years. The earth will not "get" much smaller at all.

If you like me can't be bothered to do a scale 1:1 calculation, you can just multiply the so-called "real" length with 1:384 in order to achieve scale 1:1.

So, the 3.8 centimeters are actually 3.8 * 384 = 1459.2 centimeters or 14.592 meters. (7 years between earth discoveries)

For the 3.1 centimeters it is: 3.1 * 384 = 1190.4 centimeters or 11.904 meters (announced but not confirmed yet).
