This might be my most divisive post ever. I feel confident in saying that.

I'm not sure where to start here, but I want to state that I know that the double standards that I'm about to highlight are in fact real, and they are a common place in the world we live. Having said that, I also would like to feel confident in the fact that I'm not looking at the world through a patriarchal lense, and I'm trying to see both sides of this issue.

Let's get right into it:

I have seen a LOT of women post about their sex lives in the comments. In fact it is VERY common to see women openly brag about the fact that they give oral sex to their partner, and that they also enjoy getting oral sex from their partners. Some women have admitted to giving oral sex to partners they despise, partners that they see as inferior to them, partners that they use for money, partners that they are cheating on their husbands with, etc, etc Let's just say that they talk a lot about oral sex.

-Now with that being said, have you ever seen a woman get called out or shamed for giving oral sex? Or do you ever remember seeing a man shame a woman for doing so? I never have. In fact, the only thing you usually see is other people talking about how "sex positive" the woman is for openly expressing her sex life. The men usually just seem happy that they're getting sex from an attractive woman, and the women usually just use it as another way to "empower" themselves sexually and to express their sex positivity.

Now let's compare that to men:

I have seen a LOT of men post about their sex lives on Reddit. In fact it is VERY common to see men openly brag about the fact that they give oral sex to their partner, and that they also enjoy getting oral sex from their partners. Some men have admitted to giving oral sex to partners they despise, partners that they see as inferior to them, partners that they use for money, partners that they are cheating on their wives with, etc, etc Let's just say that they talk a lot about oral sex.

-Now with that being said, have you ever seen a man get called out or shamed for giving oral sex? Or do you ever remember seeing a woman shame a man for doing so? I have. In fact I've seen this happen countless times. I've seen women shame men for doing so in the comments, I've seen this on other parts of the internet, and I've even seen this happen in television shows and movies. There are countless examples of this happening.

Those of you that are still reading this post, especially the women, know exactly what I'm talking about here. Think about it. Women have no problem talking about how much they love giving and receiving oral sex, but if a man does the same thing, there is a BIG double standard. Women seem to look down on men who give oral sex, as if it's a bad thing or something to be ashamed of.

I've seen a lot of women use degrading phrases toward men who give oral sex, phrases like "You want to eat my pussy? Eww, that's disgusting, you're a weirdo and a creep". These are just a few examples. Let's just say that there are a lot of examples of women putting men down for this.

You can even look at this sub for examples. I've posted about how much I enjoy giving oral sex to women, and I've been met with a lot of disrespect from women in the comments. I've been told that I'm a weirdo and a creep for giving oral sex to a woman that I've been dating for 2 years. I've been told that I'm a pervert for doing so. I've been told that I'm a loser and a simp for doing so.

-Now compare that to the attitude and reception that women get when they talk about oral sex. You will hardly ever see a woman being called degrading names for giving oral sex, unless they're giving it to a man and the woman giving it is considered to be a "low value" woman, but that's a whole different topic.

I feel like I need to state that I know that there are a lot of women who don't shame men for doing this, but this attitude does seem to be VERY common in today's society.

I've seen a lot of television shows and movies where this has been depicted, and I've seen a lot of examples of it on the internet.

In closing:

I don't know if I'm looking at this issue through a patriarchal lense or not. I don't know if this is just a case of one sided sexism. I don't know if this is a case of the patriarchy vs men who enjoy giving oral sex. I don't know if I should just go outside and play if I feel like a victim.

But if I'm right, then we just saw another example of how the patriarchy and society as a whole is stacked against us as men. We just saw another example of how women are held up on a pedestal and given a free pass for things that men are regularly shamed for. If you are a man who enjoys giving oral sex to a woman, then you should be ashamed of yourself and you're a creep. But if you are a woman who enjoys giving oral sex to a man, then you should be empowered and sex positive and not be ashamed of yourself at all.

Yea, that sounds like a BIG double standard to me.

Or maybe I'm wrong, or maybe I'm just being paranoid. Maybe I should go outside and play. What do you think?

Edit:

I just got done reading a lot of the comments here, and I would like to thank everyone for participating in the discussion and debate. I feel like it is safe to say that there is a HUGE double standard here.

I would like to say that I appreciate everyone's point of view and opinion. I appreciate the constructive criticism, even if it was negative. I appreciate everyone taking the time to read my post and give me their opinion.

I would like to say that I now feel very confident that this BIG double standard does indeed exist. It seems that a lot of you have experienced this as well, and a lot of you have commented about seeing this happen on other parts of the internet and in movies and television shows.

I would also like to say that I appreciate the feedback from the women here. I appreciate you sharing your point of view and perspective. I appreciate the fact that a lot of you have openly admitted to having this mentality, and I appreciate the fact that a lot of you have openly admitted to shaming men for doing so.

I would like to say that I appreciate the feedback from the men here. I appreciate the fact that a lot of you have openly admitted to being shamed for this, and I appreciate the fact that a lot of you have openly admitted to seeing this double standard.

In closing, I would like to reiterate the fact that I appreciate everyone's feedback and opinion. Thank you all for participating in this discussion.
