"Men don't talk enough and women talk too much".

I'm going to be visiting my sister soon. She just told me that she's going to be a therapist in the summer, something like that. Well first off, she never talked about that before and secondly, therapy is not an easy discipline to get into. <br><br>So here's what I think. I think this is a good opportunity to observe modern women and how they perceive men and their issues, not that I haven't seen this before. She's going to do an internship and she said she's not going to see real clients, just her class mates in a role play situation or something. Well the thing she's going to be practicing is that men don't talk enough and women talk to much. <br><br>That's what she said and that's what I want to talk about. <br><br>Women are the ones that always talk about issues related to women. They are the ones who dominate the medical schools. They want equal opportunities everywhere. They want to be seen, they want to be heard, etc. <br><br>That's all fine and good. I don't complain about that. My question is that if men don't talk enough and women talk too much and women are the ones studying psychology and studying how to help people, why can't THEY listen more and talk less? Why can't they go into a session and say "how can I help you"? <br><br>They can't and they don't, because this has nothing to do with helping men. <br><br>This has everything to do with the socialization of men. As a man, you have to accomplish and perform and prove yourself. Men that fail in life are worthless men. These are the things that society and women drill into our heads. <br><br>So this is why it's wrong to complain about issues. This is why it's wrong to be vulnerable. This is why talking to a therapist is not a good idea. Because if you can't perform and accomplish and provide, what's the use of talking about it? <br><br>We are not here to help you. We are not here to listen to you. We want you to work and accomplish and perform and provide. This is the social contract that we have and men are supposed to follow it and they're supposed to be happy that they get to have sex with women, that they're allowed in their presence. <br><br>I don't know how you feel about this, but for me it's a great opportunity to observe modern women. I think this is going to give me a lot of insight.
