I accidentally joined a cult

One of the most terrifying experiences in my life came, without realizing it at the time, at the behest of the most beautiful woman I ever dated. I can never say if she really wanted me to terrify her, but the truth is that, for a time, she loved its rituals and she was the one who, without knowing it, wanted to join a cult.

I was about to turn 22, which made her 19, and we had been together for a month. In that short time, she was the only serious girlfriend I had, and we were in the middle of a sexual awe that we never thought we could be in such a serious relationship. It was actually a very sensual and beautiful relationship that was slowly fading away. It was then that I was invited to a ritual that was not a ritual held by occultist people.

Everything started with a party. The theme was "Let's Make Fun of the Dead," and, based on the idea, there we would dress up as one of the deceased in history and make a parody of them. So, we went to a party. She wanted to dress up as Emily and I wanted to go as Edgar, so we were dressed as the couple from The Fall of the House of Usher. We bought a dress for her and a suit for me, along with a wig, a lot of white powder to paint ourselves, and some dark eye makeup.

We went to the party, and we were in the middle of a sense of awkwardness and embarrassment. She had a little red dress with a lot of paint and black powder, and I was, well, the second brother, pale, black, without a trace of life. We didn't know anyone, and the only thing I wanted was to be alone with her and to sleep with her all night. Unfortunately, it was not like that. We entered, and I'm sure everyone noticed us. It was a crowded party, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that almost 200 people were at that place. I didn't know anyone, and everyone was dressed up in their own funeral clothes, making a parody of death. There was Cleopatra eating a hot dog and a French mime that was mimicking a suicide by hanging, a Mexican making fun of the dead by eating, and a lot of people making jokes.

We entered, and we didn't know what to do. We just walked through the hallway and looked at everything. There was music and people screaming, and everyone was drunk. I'm not a drinker, so I was very annoyed, but I had some wine with her, and we were there almost all night making a parody of two dead people.

At that party, I met two people. One was a woman, and the other one was a man. The woman wasn't very interesting, but the man... well, his face was painted black, and he was dressed in black. He looked like a mortician to me, but I learned that he was a very important person. We didn't know his name, and we just called him "The Mortician." We didn't talk much at the party, and we just knew that he was in charge of a group that was related to death. He was very friendly, and he gave us some instructions about how to protect ourselves and be careful, among others things.

We didn't pay much attention to him, but in the middle of the sense of awkwardness, he talked to us like he was a person very close to us. We didn't have the guts to ask his name. I wanted to know, but I was afraid to ask. Also, the truth is that I didn't care about it. We were there, and we were bored, so we were looking for a way out. We were tired and wanted to leave. So I told her that we should leave soon, and she told me that she wanted to leave too. We looked at each other and talked, but that night, there was something that caught her attention and made her very curious.

While we were talking, she saw that many people were leaving the party and entering a forest. I saw it too, and I didn't understand what was happening. For a moment, I thought that there was another party in the forest, but she wasn't sure about it. We both were very curious, but I was afraid of joining them. I didn't know what was happening, and I just wanted to leave. I told her again that we should leave, and she told me that she wanted to know what the others were doing. The truth is that I wasn't curious, but she was very intrigued. I didn't want to know, but she was a very curious person, and when she was curious about something, she was never satisfied until she knew what was happening. After all, she was 19, and almost everyone her age is curious by nature. I was almost 22, and I was, well, lazy.

She wanted to investigate, and I had a hard time telling her that we should leave. In the end, I agreed to follow her, and we went to the forest to see what was happening. We crossed almost the whole forest, and everyone followed the same path. I saw that everyone was walking to a very isolated house in the middle of the forest. In fact, it was the mansion of a very wealthy family that had been there for more than 100 years. We were there, and I realized that I had no idea why everyone was gathering in that house. I was very anxious, but in the end, almost everyone was there. I saw, again, the woman and "The Mortician" in the crowd, and I realized that they were waiting for something. I wanted to leave, but she didn't want to. She wanted to know what was happening, and she was very excited. I also was very excited, but I wasn't as excited as she was. So we waited, and we were very anxious to know, among others things, why everyone was gathering there.

For a moment, I thought that we were in a sect. I didn't want to think about it, but I couldn't stop thinking. I saw that everyone was waiting for something, and I was afraid. But I wasn't as fearful as I should have been. I was very curious, and I was there with her. So I was there, waiting to see what happened. She held my arm, and I held hers. We were together, and we were waiting to see what happened.

After almost 30 minutes, some people entered the house. In fact, everyone entered. We were the last ones, and "The Mortician" looked at us and asked us if we were sure that we wanted to enter. I told him that we were, and we entered. I saw that everyone was in a very big room in the middle of the house. It was crowded, and I didn't like it. She held my arm, and I held hers almost all the time. We were there, in that huge room, and I didn't like it. I wanted to leave, but she didn't want to. In fact, she wanted to see more. I was very, very, very, very anxious, and I was about to leave. But I stayed there because I didn't want to leave her. In fact, I didn't want to leave her ever. So I was there, and I was waiting. She was waiting too, and we were holding arms all the time.

We were in that room almost all night. I don't remember if, at some point, I left, but I'm sure that I was there almost all night. The truth is that some things caught my attention, and other things didn't catch my attention. There were some altars with black candles, and there were people in almost every corner of the room. There were some people dressed in black, and I realized that they were followers of the group. I didn't know them, but I knew that they knew "The Mortician," and by extension, they knew the woman and, of course, everyone who was at that party. We were alone and surrounded by strangers. We didn't know anyone, and everyone knew us. It was a very absurd and awkward situation, but we were there. In fact, I don't think anyone knew the name of "The Mortician" nor the name of the woman, and I'm sure that everyone knew who they were and what they wanted.

We were there almost all night, and we didn't know what was happening. There were some rituals that we didn't understand, some prayers that we didn't know, and we were in the middle of almost 200 people doing things that seemed to be from a different world. There were people who seemed dead, people who were crying and screaming, and people who were, well, bullshitting. I didn't understand it, and she didn't understand it either. She was very curious, and I was a little bit curious too. But, at that point, almost everyone was, and I'm sure that almost everyone was curious to see what was happening. Almost everyone was in a trance, some were in an ecstasy, some were singing, and almost everyone was dancing bullshitting. I didn't understand, and she didn't understand either. In fact, I think that almost no one understood.

So we were in that huge room, and almost everyone was doing things that seemed to be from another world. I didn't understand almost anything, and she didn't understand either. In fact, I think that almost no one understood. But we were in the middle of almost 200 people doing things that seemed to be from a different world, and we didn't know what was happening. There were some rituals that we didn't understand, some prayers that we didn't know, and we were in the middle of some people doing things that seemed to be from another galaxy.
