I want to introduce magic into my fictional world in a way that feels authentic and not overpowered. Any advice?

Hi. So I want to introduce magic into my fictional world in a way that feels authentic and not overpowered. I want to create a rich and immersive environment, and I think magic can be a great tool to enhance my world, especially when combined with its existing lore and geography.

I've been thinking about how to approach this, and I know that I want magic to be subtle and not all-powerful. It could be interesting to associate it with specific locations and various belief systems. For instance, certain areas could only allow druids to use magic, while in other areas only the faithful could channel gods' power. I'm also considering making the strength and accessibility of magic dependent on the moon's phases. What do you think?

Do you have any suggestions or examples that might help me create a realistic magical system without it feeling too fictional?
