I can’t tell if my friend is interested or just being friendly.

My friend (M28) and I (F25) have been friends for a few years now. We live in different states and it’s been months since we’ve seen each other but last weekend my parents took a trip and put me and my brother up in a hotel so I made a short trip to visit him. I hadn’t seen him in almost 4 months. We had plans to go to a bar and hang out with another friend and meet some of his other friends. We were chatting on WhatsApp before I came to visit and he said he was “excited to see me” and said that he is “going out of his way to make sure I have a great time while I’m there”. He also mentioned that he had “a little surprise” for me at the bar. <br><br>At the bar, we’re all drinking and having a great time and he tells me that he got me a free drink so I made an order and he goes to the bar to give them my order. I had made a few drinks orders before he said this though, he still paid for each of those. I noticed that he kept smiling at me all night as well and then he told me that he had missed me and wanted to spend more time with me. I was wondering if he wanted to take things to the next level and hook up, the way he was being very attentionated and said he got my drinks covered, but he also made said he was going to cover all my drinks if I got an Uber there and back. <br><br>I asked him what the surprise was and he pulled out two small bottles of my favorite liquor from his backpack and told me to keep it. He then said to me something along the lines “if you’re wondering what my intentions are, you’re getting the short end of the stick here. I said I got you a drink and I bought you 2 bottles. Anyways I’m glad you’re here with me right now while I’m out having fun and celebrating my weekend.” I said oh my god you really didn’t have to do all that. I’ll give them to my roommate or bring them home to my mom if she likes the type of liquor. <br><br>We were all hanging out and having fun, but it kind of threw me back a bit because I didn’t expect him to tell me straight up that he was putting all this extra effort into seeing me, but then he says that I am getting the short end of the stick, and it kind of made me feel like my presence doesn’t really mean much to him. I felt kind of like I was being played, but at the same time I feel like he really did want to see me because he was smiling in my face and saying he was happy to see me. <br><br>I am tripped up on whether or not he might be developing feelings for me or if he just likes the idea of having fun. At the end of the night he said he really missed my company and wanted to see me more often and I felt like he was being genuine in saying that. <br><br>So my question to men is would you say he might be developing feelings for me?
