Why do men do it?

I was just wondering what drives men to abuse women and children, knowing that it's a bad thing to do. Is it to feel powerful? I understand they are wired to be aggressive but not to this extent. I will never understand it. I can't fathom doing something like that to anyone. <br><br>I want to believe that it's a lack of education or upbringing but it can't be that because I have friends who are very educated, went to good schools, were raised in loving homes and they are still as horrible to women as the rest of men.
