Religion, is it right to teach it?

Over the past month I’ve been reading a lot about religion and I’ve come to the conclusion that religion is crazy secondary or tertiary to social and cultural value. I’m not gonna talk about how there’s no proof of God and this and that, I’m just gonna say it’s crazy. However, it remains crazy important.

I’ve done a bunch of reading on what people think of God. I believe it’s a social construct, but a huge amount of people disagree. In any case, the fact that religion is used as reasoning for war, government, stories, and a large amount of other things is enough evidence to prove it’s importance.

I’ve taken world religion as a class, and while I can look at the classes as an academic pursuit, I’m not sure how you could if you’re truly religious. It’s weird to think about how Christianity is as crazy to a Muslim as Hinduism is to me.

It’s pretty obvious to most that it’s not entirely correct to teach it in school, but it should definitely still be taught. Its crazy how important religion is to people, but how crazy it is secondary or tertiary to culture. But, I don’t see the point in calling people idiots, it’s not about proving your religion right, it’s about teaching how religion is important, and how important it is to people.
