Anyone ever notice the difference in the way a woman looks at a child versus the way a woman looks at a man?

I have 2 daughters 2 and 5, I am divorced and I date but it's really casual. I don't bring my dating life around my children. But this girl I've been dating for a few weeks, she decided to meet my kids. My ex wife was away for the weekend and my girls were at my place. <br><br>Usually when my girls are around they get my undivided attention when they're with me, it's their weekend so it's all about them. Usually I'm very present, I'm talking with them, reading them books, playing with them, buying them their favorite foods, taking them to the park. My girls know how much I love them and that they're very important to me.<br><br>So my girlfriend came over and saw me interact with my girls. She was shocked. She said she's never seen a man care about his children as much as I do. She said it warmed her heart to see. Then I think it hit her, cause she asked why I don't talk to her the way I talk to my girls. I asked her what she meant. She said I don't talk to her with the same intensity and love as I talk to my daughters. I told her she's right, my daughters are my world, they are my Number 1 priority. I told her I don't address her the same way because she's an adult and not my child. I told her it's not like I'm being rude or cold to her, I'm just not going to talk to her like she's my baby. <br><br>Then she said she felt like I didn't really care about her, which I thought was ridiculous. And we just started dating!! I said of course I care about her, I like her that's why I'm dating her. But she's right I don't care about her like I care about my daughters. If she were to leave I wouldn't be devastated. <br><br>My girls are my babies, my life, my world. It's not that there's anything wrong with her, it's just my girls are the most important people in my life. My girlfriend looked very concerned after My answer. She looked like she realized something. And when she left she was acting very stand off-ish. I don't think she'll want to date me anymore and I'm kinda OK with that. I like her but damn, I'm not going to put her needs or care for her above my children.
