I was followed for 200 miles

This happened to me a few days ago. About 8AM I pulled out of a gas station in southern Illinois after stopping for breakfast. I merged onto I-24 towards Nashville. I drive a silver Expedition and I noticed a black Dodge Ram that looks similar to mine pull up behind me in the lane I was merging into. We both merged onto the interstate and accelerated at almost the same time. I couldn’t see the driver at first due to the sun and tinted windows.

We were taking the same route, but I didn’t pay much attention to him until we got to the first toll plaza. I looked in my rear view mirror as I slowed down to pay for the toll and it was him again. At this point it was just a weird coincidence.

We accelerated up to 70 again. About 45 minutes into my drive I slow down to pay for another toll. I look back in my mirror and it’s him again. I look back at the road and think “What are the chances that we keep taking the same route the same direction?”

After the second toll, I accelerated up to about 85 thinking that I would lose him—or at the very least see him pass me after the toll. 30 minutes later I had to slow down for another toll. I looked in my mirror and again, it was him. I’m not even kidding you, this black Dodge Ram was approximately 15 feet behind me every time I looked in my mirror.

The sun had traveled through the sky so that I could see him by this point. He was a white guy, possibly Hispanic, wearing a black hoodie and sunglasses. I was just creeped out at this point. I called my Dad to vent about the situation and he thought that maybe the Ram just happened to be taking the exact same route as me from the same gas station and tolls.

Again, I accelerated up to about 85 and actually lost sight of him for about 30 minutes. I was about 30 miles from my exit when I slowed down for the last toll. I looked in my mirror and it was him again. At this point, I thought he was either following me or we were just cosmic friends or something.

After the last toll, I accelerated up to 90, as I knew I was close to my turn and I wanted to lose him. I took my exit and looked in my mirror. No black Ram, I finally lost him. I thought maybe he was just a very unlucky guy that was required to stop for all the same tolls as me for over 200 miles.

I made my way to the first red light and stopped. When I looked in my rearview, there he was again. I thought, “How did he catch up to me? I didn’t slow down that much.” Then it hit me. He followed me off the interstate.

I pulled up to the red light and when it turned green I floored it. It was a 35 zone, but I broke the speed limit big time to get away. I took the next turn and my phone lost signal—or maybe he broke my phone when he was behind me. I had a feeling of paranoia so strong that I floored it until I reached my destination.

It was just so weird that he happened to be behind at every toll stop. I just kept thinking what if he would have gone into the gas station when I stopped. He already was in there when I entered the store but I didn’t notice him. It creeped me out how he seemed to always be right behind me. A few days have passed and it still gives me goosebumps. Ram guy, let’s not meet again.
