Why do people with American (USA) passports take pride in how easily they can travel?

#Edit tl;dr: I am a European

I couldn't care less how many countries allow me to enter visa-free. I accepted that fact years ago and i don't take pride in it. It's not like I earned the right to enter a country, or that I as a person am entitled to this right. I won it in the geographical lottery. It's not something I will ever mention in a conversation, nor will I ever circle-jerk about it with fellow passport holders. It is what it is, not something to be proud of. On the other hand, I take pride in each country I visited. I worked my ass off to get there, I survived the trip, I explored and learned a plethora of new stuff, and finally I returned home.

I have often read (and heard) Americans talk about how they like that they don't have to worry about getting a visa to visit a country. They just book a ticket, hop on, take off, and voila, they are on the other side of the world! And nothing, not a single thing, could stop them from doing so. Why on this hellish, godforsaken, dirty state of a planet would you be proud of this?! Every move in your life, every decision you make, every single matter in your life requires a fking plan and preparation. How does travel escape this reality, and why does it stop being true for travel and travel alone? Of course, you and I can easily travel to some places. Does that mean that at the end of the day, it is something to be proud of? I don't agree. I am not a super hero because I, as a citizen of a superpower, can hop on a plane to travel to other superpower nations. It is something I take for granted, much like the fact that I have two eyes that see, or a brain that works, or a fully functional body that allows me to go about my day with ease (I know this isn't true for everyone, unfortunately). I take a lot of things for granted, but travel is not one of them, and neither should it be for you. Traveling to another country, exploring it, overcoming obstacles, adapting to new, unfamiliar environments, learning new things, pushing yourself to unknown limits.....THOSE are all things to be proud of.

Give me a break.
