I used to work at a restaurant, and part of my job was the cash handling. I was the opening manager. So it was my job to count out the days starting drawer, each morning. Whenever I did this I always had a rubber band wrapped around the smallest stack of $1 bills. I was counting out the drawers first thing in the morning for 5 months, before anyone noticed anything. $1 here and there everyday wasn’t noticeable, and this was a VERY busy restaurant. I stole every morning for 5 months, I was just counting down how long until I would have enough to buy an apartment with cash and simply vanish. I was doing pretty well, and they just kind of accepted the whole stealing until they saw me steal a draw of $1000 in change in front of a coworker. I was caught, but I was never charged with the money. They just told me to give the drawer back and fired me. I still have the money. It’s been years.
