Couples being overly secretive about their relationship andأュ ACCOMPLISHMENTS is pathetic to me

I have seen multiple pictures of couples where one person is cooking the other a three course meal for their anniversary. Multiple pictures exist of partners gifting each other gifts like a big ass fisherman outfitted knife (OK maybe it was a small knife) but my point remains gifts like a new watch for an anniversary.

Why do we feel like we need to publicize our relationship on social media? I don't want to know about your relationship as much as you think. Also why do couples feel inclined to show us how they "spoil" each other?

Example #1: A man buying his wife a new Rolex for their anniversary, and posting pictures of it on Instagram and captioning "bought the misses a new Rolex as a present for being a wonderful wife"

Example #2: A girl cooking a three course meal for her husband but saying stuff like "because I love you, you deserve it all" or some other cringe shit like that.

If you want to spend your money on your spouse, that is your choice, but why post it online? You're truly doing it for the likes and the "oh, wow, they're spoiling each other" reactions from your followers.

Also I can see how it would make the other person feel like shit if they can't spend that much money on their spouse. "My husband is so much better than yours because he's willing to spend $$ on me". Okay Karen...your husband spent more money on you. Congratulations.
