I genuinely don’t understand how people travel 90% of the time

Do people actually just show up at a random airport with no ticket or knowledge on how to get to the destination, arrive, then start wandering 100% aimlessly with no idea where to go or how to get back to the airport when time to go?

I’ve done a lot of solo travel over the years and every single trip I’ve ever done I’ve spent hours upon hours researching my trip. I know where my hotels are, I have a copy of the address and details to get me there if needed, I know the public transit options and what they cost, I have a list of places I want to visit and maps I printed on Google MyMaps so I can find everything, and I start all this planning days or even weeks before my trip

How the hell do so many people manage to travel without doing any planning or homework I see so many “I want to go on a romantic vacation with my partner, what should we do” or “what should I do today” posts on this sub

To me I feel that traveling is so much more fun when you have a clear idea of what you want to do and where you’re going . Yep exploring and finding hidden gems is great but to me I’d much rather find gems on my 5th trip to a destination when I’ve already seen most of the main sights. I travel for work as well and to me the last thing I want to do is travel to a new city and be like “oh hey what should I do”

I know there is a yin and yang to travel, for some people that’s genuinely what they enjoy, the aimless exploration. I see so many posts of “I got a flight to Paris, but how do I get from airport to the city center”. I don’t know but you’re about to find out….

I feel like it is literally a non stop struggle to go on a trip because you literally have to figure out every single thing you want to do instead of having a rough idea of how to get from point a to b.

I’ve gone on many many trips in my life and I’ve never had a single issue arise I was in Athens on business in 2021, and my flight out got cancelled 24 hours before I was supposed to leave. I was able to easily go onto skyscanner, find a new flight, book a new ticket to the airport via a train ticket online, and grab a new hotel room. Boom, done. I know others might genuinely panic over something like that.

Anyone else think like me?
