Shoshin in Japanese means "beginner's mind". This term is often used by some martial arts practitioners who apply this concept in certain disciplines. This concept has been greatly misapplied towards people who are perceived as beginners. Some people think that if you are an expert, then you are not subject to "shoshin".<br><br>Actually, the concept of "shoshin" is somewhat more nuanced than this. It is a concept that has been talked about extensively since the 1950s by a Zen master named Shunryu Suzuki.
