So, I was shopping at the grocery store. I was in the self-checkout line and a man was next to me in the regular line. There was a woman in front of him, and I was in front of him.

I was about to finish my self-checkout and go pay when I saw the man in front of me put a small item on the counter. I saw him try to remove the item from the counter.

I knew this was wrong, so I quickly scanned the items in the regular line next to me. I saw he had a cart of items. I knew I was going to do something, so I quickly put my items down and went over to him.

I saw him try to remove the item again. So, I quickly picked up the item, and I took it.

I took the item and went to my cart, where I put the item in my bag. He saw me put it in my bag, so he tried to get it. I told the cashier what happened and she immediately called the police.

I went to the manager, and he told me that it's his job to call the police, but I could leave the store without the item. I did, and the police never showed.

So, the moral is that it is our job to be heroes and stop wrong doers, but the police never show up to help us.
