My mom saved me from being kidnapped at the beach

This happened when I was 10 (I’m 24 now) and is 100% true. I grew up in a small beach town in New Jersey and spent nearly every weekend during the summer at the beach.<br><br>One summer afternoon when I was 10, my family was at the beach. I decided to go in the water and my parents decided to stay on the beach. I had spent several hours in the water alone, and during that time, a man started talking to me. He asked me my age, and I told him I was 10. <br><br>He let me go, but I noticed that he was following me whenever I went further out in the water. I thought it was weird, but I didn’t feel any red flags. After I had been in the water for maybe 20-30 minutes, I got tired and decided to head back to the beach to get a snack.<br><br>As I walked out of the water, the man followed behind me. I screamed “MOM” at the top of my lungs as the man got closer and closer. The sound of my voice made him run away very quickly. <br><br>My mom always told me that she saved my life that day, and I believe that it’s entirely true. The police ended up looking for the man, and they never found him. We ended up leaving the beach after that, but we never ended up finding the man.<br><br>I have no idea what would have happened if I was kidnapped, but I know it wouldn’t have been good.
