Practically all manifestations of consciousness we have ever discovered are those of humans and animals. How many more forms of consciousness can there be? Do new developments in neurotechnology open new possibilities for consciousness to manifest? Is a computer, given sufficient processing power, able to be conscious? How many other forms of information processing within consciousness could be possible and what do they look like? The human brain and neurons are perfectly developed for humans and animals to exist and function in a more or less efficient fashion. What new developments in neurotechnology open new possibilities for new manifestations of consciousness?

Practically all humans and animals have primarily the same senses, with some better vision, some better smell, some better hearing. What about new manifestations of senses? Is it possible that in the future, if we get technology like this, the limitations on new senses are in effect arbitrary? How many different types of senses could there be? How many different types of possible levels of consciousness could there be? Is our own consciousness the ultimate maximum or just one of the many manifestations there could be?
