Of all the super wealthy people in the US, you probably can’t name more than 10 without looking up who rounds out the top 100. While, there are certainly some millionaires/billionaires who are assholes who don’t pay minimum wage, the issue, that I see is more that the minimum wage is too low. If we raised the minimum wage to a living wage, there’d be less poverty, less need for welfare or social programs for basic needs. The “rich”, aren’t the problem. The fact that most well educated adults can’t afford a 1 bedroom open concept tiny home for themselves on a single income is the problem. If we raised the minimum wage, we wouldn’t need food stamps. We wouldn’t need textbooks sitting on school shelves for every kid in every grade in every school. We’d have fewer people addicted to drugs, we’d have happier, healthier, and more fulfilled people.

Who needs a million dollars a year? Much less multiple houses, or exotic cars. While I’m sure there are some millionaires/billionaires who don’t treat all employees fairly; the issue is still the minimum wage or the lack there of.

The wealthy didn’t create the law to pay everyone. The government did. If the wealthy saw living wages were important, wouldn’t they loby present and future governments to increase the minimum wage for all? If they don’t want to pay a living wage, do they pay their employees enough to afford a home, and a car, and groceries, and have some money left for spending? Or do they recognize that those same employees need social welfare and government assistance to afford the basic necessities for survival? Maybe the problem isn’t the “rich” maybe it’s the politicians.
