The amount of angst and whining about the new Facebook rules on this sub is getting weird.

Is it me, or is there a massive overreaction to the new Facebook rules about guns.

I don't care for it any more than you do. But, we're literally congregating and still discussing guns in this sub.

Yeah it sucks and we need to organize and make some noise - but literally everything about our country is hosed up right now, on a scale of importance it's small compared to tax issues, and voting issues, and education issues. The list goes on.

The worst part about the Facebook rules is it's trying to take away our first amendment rights by highlighting a second amendment right.

But you know what, the US government doesn't care about you, any longer than you put money in their pocket.

So, what should you do?

1. Stop using Facebook.

The owner and CEO is not a US citizen. He is an Israeli nationalist, so his politics are going to be different. He doesn't give a rats ass about you, or your rights. You are just a way for him to make money, and money is a way for him to gain influence.

And that's the problem.

2. Get off of our asses and go vote. Apathy when it comes to voting is the most pathetic thing about the US. We are all telling ourselves, "Oh they're going to cheat the vote" - well then do something about it. Make it hard for them to cheat.

3. Put your money where your mouth is.

Send it to politicians you like. Not PAC's, not parties, but to actual people taking your money and your complaint (in the form of a vote) to Washington.

If you want US citizens to have an advantage in running Facebook, then send your money to candidates that will make it happen.

4. Stop buying shit you don't need. Facebook makes money by selling you shit, and taking your data. That's their entire business model. Every time you share your data, buy something off Facebook, or use an app connected to it, you're making it harder for US citizens to ever have control.

5. Encourage others to do these things as well. Apathy and laziness doesn't help our country.

6. Stop getting offended for no reason. Facebook removes gun ads because they don't like controversy. They don't want to offend. This is why everything is so PC and it's called, "PC Culture". Because people got offended at everything, so culture changed to make people less offended, and then it got so bad the government had to step in so we need to vote.

The list is endless and has no need to end. So it all starts and ends with you. As yourself, "What am I doing for my country?"

Is it working? Because the US definitely needs help.
